Puzzle-platformer game for PC

Struggling Ball is a premium adventure game for PC by developer Struggling Ball. It is a third-person 3D puzzle platformer that has players take control of a spherical object as they solve and overcome platforming challenges. It takes them through beautifully designed levels across various locations and environments.

Similar to Polyball, Struggling Ball is a modern take on classic ball-rolling games that were quite popular back in the day. Apart from the use of modern graphics, the puzzles and challenges themselves are more intricate in design and presentation, which makes for a more immersive experience.

Keep the ball rolling

If you've played ball-rolling games back in the day, Struggling Ball will feel somewhat familiar to you when you first give it a try. In place of the usual isometric view is an over-the-shoulder perspective, which provides you with a better view of things. That is a positive change as you will want to take in the beautiful art and complex level design of the various worlds you'll be exploring.

You will take control of a metal ball with geometric patterns. The gameplay revolves around you moving and guiding it through multiple platforming challenges until you reach the exit at the end of each level. Speaking of, you will be exploring unique worlds and environments, including medieval castles, forests, and even wondrous platforms floating in the sky, each with its own obstacles to face and overcome.

Be wary of traps as failing to overcome them can result in you getting thrown off levels, and you will need to start from scratch all over again. Sadly, the whole experience is a short one as you can pretty much finish the game in a couple of hours. This is compounded by the fact the gameplay is a bit too easy. More levels are promised in future updates, though.

More like a short stroll

Struggling Ball started off well and was quite promising, offering a modern take on ball-rolling games of old. Its beautifully designed worlds are impressive, both visually and technically. However, the gameplay might have been too easy and accessible as you can breeze through it in no time. Hopefully, those promised additional levels arrive soon. It's still worth playing. Just don't expect it to last that long.

PROS

  • Beautiful art and graphics
  • Various distinct worlds to explore
